This is my late '71 restoration, completed in 1985. That's new front fenders and doors, rubber, beltline trim, grills, new rear bumper, and factory rebuilt engine with two barrel manifold and Weber carb. I was fortunate the transmission had just been rebuilt.

In the picture it sits a little bit high 'cuz the engine hasn't been installed.

The wheels are E30-offset Ronals and the tires are from a Rabbit GTI.

This car survives and is still sometimes seen in Ann Arbor, MI.

I'd buy it back if I could.

Now you have given the urge to scrounge around the house and look for old pics of my long-gone '02's.

I have two '02 pics on my office wall. One is of the Chamonix '73 tii with my then 2 and 4 years old children standing behind it. The other is of them in the same pose about 17 years later (about 4 years ago) standing behind my current '02.

I found some nice pictures of a beautiful malaga '73 2002tii I had in the early/middle 1990's and I noticed we now have a scanner at work, I'll get those pictures scanned and post them.

is this color Malaga? or more of a brick red? i like the look of it. i'm not too much of a Malaga fan but the lighting on this one makes it look really nice. i'd like to paint my current project a similar shade of dark red.

It's Malaga fersure.

The picture was bit faded, so color correctness may be a little bit off. It's not in direct sunlight, and that may have something to do with it, too.

Julius is sleeping in the garage, but the bumpers are hibernating under my bed.

I've removed the extra lighting and will slowly 'undo' some of the other 'improvements."

Got some snappy doublefin Minilites mounted up tho...

Why are the bumpers off? Minilites are my favorite wheels for the 02. Hang on to them, they are like gold.

I'm removing the bumper-mounted lamps and will refit them to a custom, bumper-bracket mounting system for more stability and better aesthetic appeal. A VGC front center section will replace the original-to-the-car drilled portion.

While I'm at it, the front bumper brackets will get a good cleaning and the front apron will receive new rubber grommets.

Coming to Grand Rapids for O'Fest???

Would like to attend this year's O'fest. Still too early to determine if I can commit. It's much closer though than Keystone, Co from NYC, the first and last O'fest I attended. Wow, it's been more than three years since then.
