Hey everyone!!!!

She works! After only driving a total of 10-15 miles last year I finally got her going!! I'm really excited..."Almost" everything seems to be in order except the gas guage not working, and the heavy coolant leak from the front of the engine....any ideas what that's about? I thought it was the hose that goes from the water pump to the intake manifold so I ordered a new one, but I'm not sure... It looks like it's coming from behind the alternator where I can't really see up towards the fan...Is there anything else up there that could leak??? Such as the head gasket???

Thanks,

Brian

Could be coming from the waterpump itself. behind the fan under the pump there is a relief hole. If the water is coming from there, the waterpump needs to be replaced. Might be able to see it with a small dental type mirror.

Guest's comment above is right on target. I would guess that is your problem, especially if the pump has some mileage on it and the car has been sitting and not driven for over a year. There is a relief hole directly beneath the shaft and one directly above the shaft. You can slide under the front of car with a flash light and look straight up, but watch that you don't get coolant in your eyes. You can see the hole directly behind the fan. If there is green water leaking out, replace the pump. Your seals are gone. Another possibility is the hose from pump to intake manifold. Check that at the hose clamps.

you didn't "forget" to tighten the hose from the intake to the waterpump do you? I know it sounds dumb but when I did the water pump/thermostat/hoses job last year I spent a lot of time trying to figure out where my leak was comming from. After I removed the alternator to get a better look, there was the hose clamp. Just tight enough not to make a cold motor leak but loose enough for a hot motor to piss all over the place.

just some food for thought!!
