I am replacing the lower timing cover and managed to break off the front section of the head gasket. Do i have to pull the head and replace the whole gasket or can I glue in just that section?

I expect there will be oil leak issues, but am I overlooking something else?

I just went through the same thing and was unable to salvage the front section of the head gasket that goes between the upper and lower timing chain covers. So I carefully cut and fitted the front section of a new head gasket that I happened to pick up in a box of parts I bought from a friend. I carefully scrapped and cleaned all metal surfaces, using acetone to wipe all surfaces down prior to refitting parts & new timing cover gaskets. I used a thin bead of silicone gasket sealant on both sides of all gaskets and made sure I had a nice little drop in the corner where the two head gasket parts meet, then tightened/torqued everything to spec. So far so good. Time will tell.
