I was watching that video, thinking that we all love our '02's , but Pleeease! There's no-way the a 2002 is pasing E Type Jags, Camaros, etc. Then I read to the right that it has an S14 M3 engine and he was unable to qualify. That's why he started at the back. It all makes since now. Good video though!

maybe in the next reel. Ford 289 in a 2,500 lb roadster would make for a tough opponent, even given the crappy suspension setup that taught me to handle understeer as a 16-year old Alpine pilot.

I think alot has to be said for the driver in that video. Many of the passes he made, he was out breaking cars going into the turns. Either way I agree, impressive.

Very cool! Did I see him pass a PINTO?? I'm not sure the kind of field for this race, but it's an odd mix. Very desparate HP to Weight ratios on the track together, a little more care in passing would be advised in a few places....

Examples:

3 wide, a little tight...

Inside the yellow 914 without really having position, good thing the p-car was paying attention!!!

And then there's the camaro that almost made the driver crap his pants!! Did you see that twitch? Good thing the Camaro guy saw our man!

Over all very cool video, but I got to wonder what kind of race and drivers we're looking at.

I still don't see how a 2002 with an S14 could catch, let alone pass a Camaro at Road America. The straights are just too long.

It has to be an exhibiton session of some kind, and those other big bore cars are just out for a little fun. Plus they would never group those kinds of cars together for a typical race.

Cool vid though

During SCCA regional race weekends, some regions will also offer one vintage race. Theses races are a catch all alphabet soup. As long as your car was built before 1975, you can run. It's basically a money maker for the region. You can get 30 or so more cars paying an entry fee. Most times they are sponsered and have a reduced entry fee. Some weekends the SCCA will do a race in conjunction with the BMWCCA or the Porche Club. The SCCA will honor the other race licenses for the weekend. The rules for car prep are very loose. Vintage is more for fun than for serious competition. I hope to end up racing my 02 in a vintage class. I still like the bumping that goes on in SCCA IT racing, so I'll stick to racing the Triumph TR8 for now.
