I've tried wiring these both ways but only the front bulb acts as the running light as well as the flashing bulb. Is this correct? I'm getting nothing from the larger rear bulb. New bulbs too. I was guessing that the front bulb would be the running light and the larger rear the flasher. What am I doing wrong..

How are you getting two bulbs in there? Do you mean two filaments in a single bulb?

The euro turn signal assembly is designed to take one single-filament bulb since the parking lights are part of the headlights in Europe. The common solution is to use a Tap-a-Lite bulb from UHaul that has two filaments with two wires coming out of it. Then you can connect the turn signal and parking light wires from the harness to those, isolate the ground tab in the socket (I used someone's suggestion of a piece of a straw) and you get the American functionality in the Euro assembly.

When you convert from the US turn signal(dual filament bulb) to the Euro version(single filament), you only hook up the turn signal wire. The "real" euro headlights have a city light built into them for the parking light wire to be attached to.

In the euro set i have there are two seperate bulbs one smaller bulb up front and then a bigger bulb towards the back. Both bulbs are single filament. I realise that the us spec bulbs have two filaments for the one bulb. Right now I have one wire running to the smaller bulb up front and the other wire to the bigger rear bulb. Only the front bulb works as both the running light and the signal.

I looked at the popular Tap-a-lite option and decided to try something more along the lines of the original pre 1970 setup. Purchase two lamp sockets CALTERM PN 08593. "GM 90 degree angle socket assembly for sidemarker, license plate and cornering lights. Use with bulb number:161, 168, or 194. A step drill makes drilling the 11/16th hole for the bulb socket a piece of cake. Drill the hole about midway along the lamp assembly inner structure. Connect the wire for the signal to the signal bulb and the other to the socket assembly wire. Take the ground wire from the socket assembly, drill a small hole on the same lamp assembly inner structure midway from the socket for the signal bulb and the new hole for your parking light socket and secure with a small sheet metal screw. Now pop in your parking light bulb, replace the whole assembly back on the fender and there you have it. No wires to solder on bulbs, no tape on anything. Looks just like to early two bulb setups.
