Maximillian/Bimmer parts list Lemfoerder and Meyle strut bearings on their site. So I ordered the Lemfoerder's and I got SKF strut bearings.

Anyone know about the quality of the SKF. Are they equal quality? Should I send them back?

Mr. Miller,

You ordered Lemforder strut bearings and that is what was sent. I think the confusion lies in the fact that Lemforder manufactures the metal bracket and rubber mounting but not the actual bearing that is enclosed in the center (which is manufactured by SKF). SKF is a bearing OEM for all the world's major auto manufacturers in addition to a host of other industries. Both Lemforder and SKF are high quality OEMs.

Perhaps our low price compared to BMW's high list price made you suspicious? But in any event I wished you had called so that we could have explained. We would never knowlingly switch out parts other than what was requested by the customer.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions. 800-950-2002

Thanks,

Max

Max,

Thanks for the reply.

"Perhaps our low price compared to BMW's high list price made you suspicious?"

Pricing never entered into it. I wouldn't say I was suspicious. But definitely curious. It's no different than if I went to a pub and they advertised Heineken and I ordered one and payed for it, but instead they bring me Budweiser.

I phoned in my order. The person that took the order was unable to answer my questions about the difference in the 2 brands that you list on your site. There is about a $10 difference in the 2 and so I had some questions. The person taking the order did not know and seemed to think they were both the same. I inquired about both brands, but nothing was said about the SKF brand. Seems like it would have been the time for clarification. Because the brand label on the box says SKF and does not seem to say Lemfoerder anywhere, I was curious.

As far as calling, I didn't open the box until today and unfortunately, today is not a business day. Besides, I like the candor I get from the FAQ. Honestly, I just expected a few responses that would say something like "They are both German made oem" or along those lines.

No worries, I'm sure they'll be fine.

Best,

Randy Miller
