I'm trying to remove all the emissions wiring stuff right now, but can you tell me if this thing can be removed? On the right of the pic with the green wires going into it- it seems to hook up to the wiper motor. is it a relay for the wiper? my car is a 74 w/ 2 speed wiper...

also i can't tell from the pic in the FAQ, but can the thing that has like 3 nipples and is mounted on the firewall (removed in the photo) be removed? is that what is pictured in the faq image?

thanks

whoops..... doesn't look connected to the wiper motor at all

but it IS connected to a loom that feeds into the left strut area... just below the fusebox area

where does that lead to, and what to???

Not the part you're looking for but...

The "other thingy" there is a diagnostic port of a primitave nature I think... If you pull hte cover you'll see it's setup for somethign to plug into. I have one too, haven't been able to figure out how to get rid of it...

I don't have the nice cover for mine tho!

Wait until you find the nifty wires that lead to the speedo spilt box on late cars for turning on the "reactor service" light!!!

okay folks, i'm gonna need some help

here's what i did:

removed the emissions wiring altogether.

used the wiring from that to make a 2 wire going (joined and connected) from the fuse #12, and one end going to my new electric choke, with the other end going to the + side of the coil

tried starting the car and had trouble...

tried again a couple times and had a little backfire out the carb

tried some more times and it started up, but would die right away unless the gas pedal was depressed

one bit of info: i have an idle solenoid plugged into the carb, and that was connected to the emissions loom, i'm assuming

i think i have a jet that can be installed in there (got new jets for the CDiesel prescription) and i didnt have it put in at the time

will that solve the problem??

well that turned out to be the culprit

hooked up another wire from it to the #12 fuse and it's running fine now

alls i gotta do is get the electric choke seated properly
