I wired up my tap-a-lites for my Euro turn signals, but I'm having a problem with the voltage leaking between circuits (i.e. turning on the parking light also illuminates the turn signal). I looked in the archives, but got confused about what needs to be isolated.

Do I pull back/cover the ground tab at the bottom of the socket or do I wrap the sides of the bulb base? Logically, the bulb has to ground so insulating the ground tab doesn't make sense, but wrapping tape around the base would make it hard to get into the socket.

Tape needs to be on the base, but rather than wrap the bulb base, just put a small piece of taple on the housing instead.

OK, so around the circumfrence of the base (or the inside of the socket), but leave the ground on the bottom exposed, right?

I did the opposite. I put the tape on the base of the socket, so the pressure of the bulb holds it nice and tight. Also, if you have your wires reversed your driving lights will be brighter than your turn signals. Murhy's law states that you will hook them up backwards the first time on both. I know I did.

on the prong that contacts the base of the bulb - no problems.

I soldered 2 longer wires onto the "tits" at the base of a double-filament bulb to wire to the blinker and running light leads. This was easy and you can't see the Tap-a-lite stuff through the clear front portion of the Italian lens.
