It has a more aggravsive advance curve, but most importantly, (assuming you are using a 72 or 73) it does not have a vacuum advance and that saves the vacuum hosing, which most side draft manifoilds do not have plumbed (and the vacuum is inconsistent if not balanced between all four clyinders).

If you're drawing vacuum advance from manifold pressure, you're doing the wrong thing... When the butterflies are closed on the carb (no throttle) you're getting MORE advance, due to the increased sucking from the pistons against the closed plates. This is exactly what you DON"T want. Further, if the throttle is open you're getting less vacuum. Now whether or not there's just plain enough vacuum in the manifold at all times leaving you with STATIC timing, except at startup is another question.

It's important to draw the vacuum for your dizzy directly from the port on the carburetor (assuming 32/36) so that as the plates open the vacuum increases, advancing the timing, making happy happy go go.

Ask me how I know... That's right, braniac that I am I tried this back in the 32/36 days...
