Hi, so it would seem after going back and forth between thinking the head on my car is shot, I'm back to believing that is indeed the case. I have yet to take the head off and check the gasket, but their is no water in the head. soo I'm pretty sure that isn't the issue. I adjusted the valves, and it's no better, there is plenty of spark, and the timing isn't the issue.

I have an E12 head, and would like to replace it with an E12 with either a 284 or 292 cam.. if someone has a good rebuilt head with a stock cam in it for the right price I would consider that. I don't want any questionable heads, ie, I want a rebuilt head done properly and reciepts to back it would be even better. I would look in the parts fs section, but I honestly get very bad headaches from reading bulk sections on the internet..it's a medical crap thing I have, and won't go into details. I just don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to take the lazy way out.

Also what is the best head gasket to go with? and anyone know of a good deal/supplier for head bolts?

But first, check the obvious. I assume your problem is failure to start/run. You have spark and you say your timing is correct. Are you getting ample fuel through the intake system? If so, perform a compression test, looking for readings above 120 psi on all cylinders and within 10% across all four. If you get unacceptable readings, then perform leakdown test to determine whether your compression loss is within the cylinder or with a valve or two.

engine starts ( a little slower then before) engine runs, roughly and stalls frequently. How do you do a leak down test?

also getting plenty of spark. The compression is around 85 in each cylinder.

sorry meant to say "getting plenty of fuel"

If timing is truly correct, head bolts correctly torqued, etc., you are indeed looking for a new head and/or rings/rebore.
