Hi all,

I was wondering how hard it was to source Recaro's in the US? I just say Jon74tii mentioned $400 min for a set of very good Recaro's and was wondering what you would pay for average condition ones?

I am after a pair and dont want to pay too much for them as I plan on getting them retrimmed to match my car, so if the leavers are not broken and theya re in working order, I would be keen - even if they were quite tattered in the material.

My dad will be in the US in April, so I will get him to organise freight etc. when he is there if someone would be so kind to send them to Arizona - where he is staying.

Any help, advice, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Todd

At least cosmetically. unless you get lucky via ebay, the for sale section, or digging thro the bone yards.

400 yankie bones would get you a set with OK levers, etc, but most likely torn material.

Aardvark Racing sells some recaros, refinished in vinyl. Seams perfect's Al seems to have a good handle on sources for seats - and he offers different options for redoing or otherwise.

You could always lurk the e21 boards for sale as well - see what you get. Often beater sports versions will still have seats worth coughing up.

retrimmed, and 2) shipping them from US to AU, it's easier to get it right the first time. Contact Al Larson at Seams Perfect and Dave Varco at Aardvarc Racing as Johnny F suggested. Both of those guys are honest and dependable, and you'll know exactly what to expect. Get the seats made to your specifications and shipped directly to you (easier than shipping them once in the US, then a second time to AU).

Thanks for the advice...

I will make contact with Al and David. Anyone have any idea of what it might cost? I know Al is on here and I have had a good look at some of his work - everyone hold his work in high esteem.

Cheers,

Todd

Aardvark lists the various vinyl sorts there.

Al at Seams perfect has quite a few different options too. As both are small shops, they will most likely be open to working with you on various options too;

Supply your own solid but ratty covered recaros - get em covered and refurbed

Multiple covering options etc etc.

My original recaros are in saddle brown vinyl (doesnt totally match the saddle 02 stuff but its close).

I am in the process of getting a new interior done as we speak. This time i am going non stock. fabric in the centre bolsters, vinyl outside.

Combos of material and colours will also impact price...

Thanks I have had contact with Al, he seems open to my ideas etc. so now I just have to work harder to pay for my wants! At least I know the option is available and how much it costs now. I have a number of plans for my car, so it will all depend on where I end up financially after the exterior work...

I have seen several sets of recaros go in the SF area - mostly with cars is the cheapest way to get them. -- sometimes the whole car will only be 500 dollars.

but then of course, you have an extra car....

Lame blue 6 series that Al says that he's going to sell to me cheap! Just needs a fuel pump!

If more power is better then way too much is just enough.

6 series are just ugly impractical boats. specially those dodgy jap ones.

its yours for a box of 189$ nylon carpets in toyota beige.

Anyway, my 6er works just fine. Great for those west end two block trips. as long as its not 3 blocks. and you wait 2 hours in between starting. Perfect for starbucks to starbucks crawls.

Didnt know you liked Johnny Cash so much.
