Sometimes i feel like this 02 thing is one big sickness. Last year i owned a 74 tii, 74 turbo, 75 mintgrun, 73 tii, and 5 partrs cars. I realized the insanity so i told myself i need to sell. I thought that i could live with just my 74 Turbo. So i sold the 73 tii, the mintgrun and 3 parts cars.

I put my 74tii FS but couldnt bring myself to sell it. Its been getting restored slowly since early last year, so i havent had a daily driver since then. I love to drive the Turbo on the weekends but i i need my 02 fix on a daily basis.

So with the 74 tii still being restored i found myself buying a 73 1802 and 74 02 in the same week! Both are Inka. Inka's been my favorate color since my first 02. The 74 has been great. Ive been driving it around daily and i love it! Feels good to be in an 02. I still have to pick up the 1802 from No. Cal.

But now i feel like ive gone mad!!! Im right back to where i was a year ago.

Does anyone else ever feel this way about the 02 sickness? I think i may need some professional help!

If I had the cash and the space I'd probably be worse. I now have a 72 that is being restored, im picking up my 74 this weekend, and my ex daily driver wrecked 76 parts car. I live in an apartment.

but are you happy, dribbly mad, or rocking insane staring into the middle distance?

I think most of us here are contented dribblers.

Nice garage you have there - it deserves a few 02's.

...."Hi, my name is Creighton, and I'm a car/bikeohalic".

it looks like you have the room, but it comes down to your health, fitness to service all these projects, money, common sense, time, energy,

modivation. I once suffered severly - owning 5 motorcycles, cars, van, trailer, and I also had more spare time, wasted tons of money, drove to tracks every other weekend, preped machines constantly between events,

.... now I'm a young geezer, selling off my books, parts, cleaning out the garage, selling unfinished projects, spend quality with my aging mother and meeting cousins I hadn't seen in 40+ years. Slimming down my list of 'things to do'.

take time for family - you can't pick-n-pull any more from the

calssifieds.

Yeah, I think CD is right.. there's a lot more out there in life.

I made a post a few weeks back about thinning my fleet. Although its not only 02's, I have had 3 at one point, but I decided to vary the fleet with the datsun and the alfa. Ive been pissing so much time and money and energy into the datsun, that I was taking a step back and thinking- "is it really worth it"

Well, I finally got 99% of the bugs with my 240z with the turbo motor squared away, and that first 1/2 of the block I drove before the charging system died was pure bliss and rekindled that spirit that was taken away by long nights and extreme back pain. Yes, even at the age of 26- knuckles still can get skinned, fingers can still get blistered...on the other hand what else can I do with my time? Look for a girlfriend or something- but that'll cost the same :) Seems you've had a taste of the family thing and work thing- so you can manage your time.

In any case, my main problem is space and money. Now that I have the daily driver, the stress level is low. But I still deal with complaining neighbors, and random expenses for broken this and busted that... Its really up to you I guess to see how you value your time and effort in finishing up those projects. My goal right now is to "finish" what I have, and sell off what I think might be harmful to my bank account or my time which I have to devote to other things as well. For you- maybe focus on the project car and the driver, and trim the fat - take what you need from the parts cars, and just get rid of 'em- otherwise they'll sit around and every time you look at them you'll think "man that COULD use a S14"

Basically your not insane- there's others like you. I had a buddy with 9 fiats- coupled with college loans, and a "eh" paying job, he still manages purely for the satisfaction of driving. He distributes what little time he has on each of them.

Just asses what you want out of your projects, what you need for those projects, and what you have to complete those projects, and eliminate those "unnecessary" needs.

Jon,

You think you are crazy, last year I owned three E3's at one time besides my tii. so I must be a really warped. I traded my 73 Ceylon Bav off (but I kept the Alpina's) to finance my restoration of my Euro spec E3 2800 (very rare). I fixed up the 73 Bav for my teenage daughter to drive. Had my tii engine rebuilt, now my daughter wants my tii, sorry tii's aren't for kids. Now my cars are done, I'm always looking for in Craigslist for that next project. I think it's going to be a E30 318is with M42 motor.

Jon, I've seen your turbo at Bill Holmes shop in Ramona, it was sweet. Bill worked on all three of my BMW's while I was there. Having Bill's shop close by where I lived was a big plus of living in San Diego for the short time I was there. Bill is the tii guru...

There has to be a 12 step program for people addicted to old BMW's..

I dont have a pic of all mine together. It would look like a used car lot. It would be a neat used car lot though. The 4 speed auto is for my wife and the blown motor was done by my sister driving the car to my other sister, geeze.
