My '72 has the Frigiking AC unit. The faceplate that has the control settings and the logo painted on it (on top of which the knobs sit) is all scratched up; so I took the plate off, scanned it, and drew a matching image over the top of it in Photoshop. What I need to do now is print the image out on high quality non-water transfer decal stock, so I can apply it to the metal plate. I've looked around at office supply stores for the decal stock, but haven't been able to find anything other than cheap, paper-based labels. Does anyone know where to get decal stock that will work with an inkjet printer; or, alternatively, does anyone know of someplace that would print the image out for me?

Thanks,

You could probably get it done in vinyl at a place that does graphics for company cars, window signs, etc. It will be slightly raised (not a thin as a decal), but it will be pretty durable and I don't think too hard to apply (if you have a good, clean surface).

Check out the yellow pages.

that maybe using an inkjet will not yield the best results, because regardless of what it's printing on if it gets wet it will smear. I would concur with the other reply -- try a vinyl printing place, I'm sure they could at least point you in the right direction.

Try your local hobby shop that deals with model trains.

They have a wide assortment of drytransfer decals that can be clear coated over. They will also have a supply of water set decals in many fonts and sizes.

Here's a place in IN thats specializes in decals for old tractors. I've used their stuff its very nice quality. The artwork is the most expensive part and it looks like you've already got that done.

Aaron,

if you email me the image, I might be able to do the decal for you. My brother has a sticker/decal machine at home. As a matter of fact, I'm almost positive he can do it considering some of the stuff he has done. I was just thinking of refreshing my own Frigiking AC yesterday too. Let me know.

shop about a mile from my house. They did the signs for our church van which have proven very durable.

As I have a Frigiking unit myself, I'd be interested in a decal too...as would, I suspect a number of other board folks.
