So when I backyard "restored my" 1602 4 years ago, I resprayed it it's original and ever-popular Sahara on account of everything was numbers matching, I'm a purist ya ya ya. I have had many cars since and will not part with this one. It's the only one I'll never let go of.

That said, now, I need to address some body issues and a respray is in order and I really want a schwarz car. Anyone that's seen this car knows it has issues.

My question is:

should I even bother with such an ambitiuos undertaking as prepping a rough body for black paint? Is it possible with good results? I don't want a show car; this is my daily driver, the only 4 wheeled vehicle I have and I'd rather the paint look patina-ed instead of triple coat cleared.

Has anyone resprayed a car black that was originally not black? I can only think or Ron and Harry and I don't know their histories.

Please share your experiences/advice.

black will amplify every imperfection the car has....even ones you can't see now..and, you mention'd it had been repainted once already, over the original paint....

if you want to do it right, all the old paint should come off and start with bare metal...otherwise the mill's gonna be to thick, making it very difficult to touch up such deep chips and scratches...the thicker the paint, the less flexible it becomes

i originally want's to do my car black by after buying the paint chicken'd out for the reason i mentioned
