Hey guys,

It been a week and no sign of my keys for the doors and ignition. Luckily the car was not locked but I still dont have a key. What are my options at this point? Thanks

Take your switch housing out and take it to a good lock smith and they can make you a key. After you have the new key take your door lock cores out insert the new key and file off any of the tumblers that are sticking out, now all your locks match.

I think the key code may be on the door handle tumbler. Try doing a search.

Having a locksmith make a key based on the door tumbler may be easier than pulling the ignition switch.

Mike needs to chme in here...

Good luck!

1. get back behind the ignition lock switch housing (you might need a mirror) and look for a little white sticker on the diecast housing that holds the ignition lock. The sticker usually has a 4 digit number preceeded by a "W"--that's your key code. If your ignition switch key also worked your doors (how the car came from the factory) and if the locksmith has or can cut the key from the code, you're in business.

2. If the sticker is missing and door/ign locks match, it's MUCH easier to remove a door handle and take it in to a locksmith (to remove the ignition lock, you'll probably have to pull the entire steering column due to the breakoff bolts that hold the lock assy to the steering column and that's a real PITA--or drill out the pin that holds the lock cylinder in its housing, also a PITA and a bit tricky to not damage the lock cylinder).

Of course if the ign is different from the door locks, you're gonna have to remove a door handle anyway. If this is the case, now is the time to have the locksmith make a single key work all three locks.

Good luck--ain't hard, just time consuming...BTW--make a spare key and put it in a safe place!

cheers
