I had troubles getting to the site yesterday, so this is my #1 lurker post.

I don't own an 02 yet. I want one. Bad. I want to build one for a daily driver. I have owned many BMWs (cars and motorcycles) but have always wanted an 02. I currently own an M coupe that I never drive and it's a rediculous garage queen. That's why it's important that the 02 I end up with be a daily driver.

At this point I am trying to learn all I can about 02s, restorations, rust prevention, suppliers, and body work. I have met with BrianC of M10 Autowerke fame, and drive and look at every 02 I can find for sale in the Seattle area. I am pretty sure the path for me is to buy a car, strip the shell, and start from scratch. That's certainly the most difficult path to get an 02 I think, but I can't see a way around it that will get me the car I want to drive.

Some pics for show:

Those M coupes are sweet. Where are you at? Keep an eye out and you'll find an 02 deal you can't pass up, just don't be too eager.

Sorry should have read the post better. I might have a project 02 for sale in FL soon...but that doesn't help too much in Seattle. Are you ready for the Seahawks game? Been a long time comming.

I was the same way, I wanted one again and I got into the info as much as I could, then I got a nice restoreable 71. I had so much fun restoring it that I was glad to have another chance to do a full resto on another one, thats what happens if you accidently total your car. Anyway I am now almost ready to drive a 73 with a sunroof and just about every trick that you can do and still keep it a street worthy daily driver. Alot more power and a tightened up suspension and some big breaks... oh a nice paint job and interior too...keep looking or start from scratch and have some fun

Welcome. I know you from Roadfly and BF. I've got an M Coupe too. The 2002s are fun little cars. Way different from the M Coupe. They are really light and very agile, especially with a nice firm suspension. I'm sort of doing like you said. I bought mine but only drove it a few months before embarking on the rebuild of a lifetime. You'll learn a lot about the car in a short amount of time if you do it that way. As you may already know since you said you've been lurking, this board is hands down the best. Good luck to you in your search.

solid square light / sunroof / ac / 4 speed car sitting in a local driveway - it's available, and is supposedly owned by a female airline pilot who left it (and a Bavaria) with a friend here in the Sacramento CA area when she moved to the Seattle area. Paint (Fijord) is pretty much gone and the interior is tired, but there's no evidence of prior collision damage or visible rust. Let me know if you'd like the owner's phone #......
