D'Oh! I was driving the BMW after a week off (weather..) to work this morning, and the rear right shock popped out of the shock mount!

Ivehad these bilstein HD's on for a while now, autocrossed with them, and never had this problem- my question is how the are attached to the shock housing?

On the shock shaft- going up- you have a small metal washer, then a rubber isolator, a large cone shaped body washer I think, and a lock nut. Is there something I'm missing, or did that small metal washer just push itself through the hole?

It was too early this morning to see the problem in the dark- but I'll take a peek after work. 'Till then- anybody have a sequence of parts on the rear shock shaft?

Thanks a bunch folks

No- I have the big washer underneath the lock nut, but looks like I NEVER had the bottom nut--

Thats what you get for installing them at 4am!! You forget to ask-- how are these retained?? I know I don't have them on the other side, so Im wondering if I ever got them. Hm...

Can I get these parts loosely?

Maybe add a temporary fender washer, stepping down the OD to a higher grade washer till I find exact replacements?

are you talking about the bottom mount or the top one? at the bottom, you will have a metal sleave inside the rubber bushing. thosre are not supposed to be separated. if they have, you can press it in put it back in plase and use a wide washer to cover at least half of the rubber when mounting it back. This is a big issue in e36 cars. not sure if they ever came with a washer stock, but every aftermarket mounted shock i have seen, has been missing the washer.
