Happy Birthday, Delia.

Are we going to see you in Palo Alto again this year? I'm making the trek south for the third straight year.

"Really...I went to Kendall (I assume thats the local school that you mean) back before its College statis. Did alot of research at the Eastown saloon, Yesterdog, etc. Are they still around? Other research included going to Grand Haven to watch the waterspouts come ashore during storm season, and going to the end of the runway at the airport to watch the Northern Lights (closest dark place with out city lights). And, of course, the noble sport of smelt "fishing". Presently sitting in a Herman Miller chair. Ah, the beautiful black soil of Zeeland.

My only current wood working project is trying to vacuum bag veneer new French walnut on the interior trim/dash of the 3.0cs, using a FoodSaver machine that I bought at WallyWorld.

Time to go back to the drawing board (literally). Have fun at the symposium, and tell the G-man howdy from Dave V."

Yesterdog is still there and The Eastown Saloon is now called "Billy's." I don't get to Lake Michigan bearly as often as I used to, but it's always great to see a storm come in. The airport has expanded and it's difficult to see anything but the city lights.

I enjoyed the AutoWeek Design Forum. The theme was called "Iconic Design," but little was said about our 2002s.

Airstream got some coverage for their ubiquitous stainless steel "twinkies" that put America on wheels behind SUVs..."iconic" in every sense of the word, but still a little bit off-topic.

The NAI Auto Show had fewer big assed trucks and more hybrids, a very swoopy four door Aston Martin, and the new VW GTI is very cool. The Porsche Cayenne is lovely and the BMW Z4 coupe is vaguely reminiscent of the factory Austin HealeySebring Sprite hardtops of yore.

The Camaro retro-mobile WILL be built, although the roofline will likely be raised and inch or two. This no F-body reskin -- it has fully independent rear suspension and the GM engineers are more than happy to let the Ford Mustangs and Dodge Challengers have their solid rear axles.

John Lasseter spoke (and showed clips) about the new Pixar animation film "Cars," with the voices of Owen Wilson, Cheech Marin and Paul Newman. Look for it in June.

I left before Guigiaro spoke, but was told he was dull. He spoke in Italian and the translation devices were balky and uncomfortable.

I may not be there next year..the price ($275.) is getting a bit rich for my blood.

thanks, guys...
