I am looking for a nice clean early car. I put an ad in the Windy City BMW monthy mag, on their site, here, bimmerforums, roadfly, etc.

I am checking ebay every night.

What am I missing?

The ad I posted here reads:

Wanted: 1968 to 1973 2002 or 72-73 Tii. Must be clean, solid, and in good mechanical condition. I am not looking for a concours level car, but I am not looking for a full out restoration project either. Will not entertain cars with a great deal of rust, or cars that are in need of major body work. Must have a manual transmission. All colors considered. I am located in Indiana about 90 miles from Chicago. Please email to Aaronreitman@yahoo.com. Thanks! Aaron

Any thoughts?

Could be these three words: "nice clean early".. Also, what are you paying for "the perfect" car?

I would just place the ad as wanting an early 2002......and just wait to see what comes you way.

For starters the car does not need to be perfect, just nice. I have been looking at cars anywhere from $4000 to about $10,000 depending on the car.

...First off have you looked at the Roadfly 2002 For Sale board? It seems to have a fair selection of cars that may fit your criteria:

Second, if you are willing to travel for the right car (I was), you should check Craigslist in a few major cities. San Francisco Craigslist: www.craigslist.org has a bunch of '02s in the cars for sale section. I'm guessing if you navigate to the Los Angeles regional site there would be a bunch of good ones too (that's where I found my car). There are lots out there and if you find one far away there are usually people on this board who will go inspect it for you. Don't give up!
