Anyone else using the Bosch Platinum 4 spark plugs (#4479) on their tii? I had good results with NGK BP6ET for several hundred thousand miles, until I tried the Bosch Platinum 4 four electrode plugs. I've had outstanding results with these plugs with a newer tii distributor (002? to replace the original 008), Pertonix electronic ignition, and red coil with the resistor block. I've used them for 35,000 miles now and I replace them every 15,000 miles.

Platinum Plugs as not being compatible with M10 engines/ignition systems etc. Yours is the first posting I've seen that has had a good experience with 'em in an 02... My two seem to run just fine on regular Bosch plugs or NGK BP6ES plugs...but I have a brand new set of Bosch platinums that I'm gonna try in my new engine when it's built.

Don't bother with Platinums, 4 electrode or anything else.

The life out of the Platinums was the same as the coppers.

I've found the basic NGKs are by far the best, but each motor tends to be particular about plugs.

The life might be the same, but the Platinum 4 resistance to fouling is much superior, in my experience, to NGK BP6ES or even BP5ES. But then again maybe you guys aren't trying to start a tii at 10 below zero at 10,000' elevation. :) Tii's are suppose to have some surface gap Bosch spark plug that, to my knowledge, have never been available on this side of the pond. If you like NGK's then you really should try the BP6ET triple electrode plugs and see what you think - this is what I ran for years with good results.

I never had any good luck with the regular platinum's either. But I have had great results with the Platinum 4 four electrode spark plugs in my tii, and I just thought that the suggestion might help someone else out if they're having plug fouling problems.

This summer I switched to a Bosch w8dc. We also tried to lean the warmup regulator a bit. BINGO first summer I've had no fouling issues at all! I would guess that the NGK bp5es( hotter) would work fine too.
