ok, so, now that i have consumed and produced greatly the info that everyone here has given me, thanks again. i am now wondering if this tii motor which has 3k on it but only 3 hrs in the last 10 years,. do i need to somehow get oil into the injector pump before stsrting? if so, how?

there is an allen head screw on top of the pump. Remove that and pour some in. It will not overflow as the oil will move down the oil return line to the motor.

Good advice guys. In my experience, if a tii sits for 6 months or a year or more, the o-rings will almost certainly leak as soon as you fire the engine up. Don't forget, the mechanical fuel injection pump is putting out something like 600-700 psi!
