I was looking at the egauges.com site for the supplemental VDO gauges I want but became overwhelmed by all the options. I know I want the basic Vision series; oil pressure, temp, and volts, but am uncertain on the ranges as well as which sending units are needed (all of the ohm stuff is totally foreign to me), thread sizes, and various wiring needs. I do know that I want electrical vs. mechanical. Anybody bought this similar stuff have the ideal set-up at hand? Thanks in advance.

if car starts you got at least 12v. for a oil i have 80psi, with matching sender, with two posts, one for idiot light, thread size 12x1.5 or 10x1.5, depends on your year, Probalby 12. most folks will steer you to 150psi, but i like a tighter window. car usually is never over 80 after start-up.

Temp, i have a 250 degree with matching senders, two senders one in water tree,12x1.5 and one in oil pan. tapped drain plug with 1/8 threads.

using goggle switch to monitor both on one temp gauge.

guages are electrical and vision.

if you want a third put what ever else you want, i am putting a clock.

the water tree one may be a 14x1.5, pull yours and check. pull the oil one as well and check size before ordering

Most of us run 20W-50 oil in our '02s; I regularly see over 90 psi on a cold engine startup in 50-70 degree air temperature--and that's with an original engine showing over 200k miles. I've actually pegged the gauge on a really cold morning...

As for the voltmeter, you don't need it very often, but it will give you an indication of impending problems with your alternator, regulator and/or battery and is much easier to install than an ammeter.

My choice back in 1987 was 150 psi oil (two terminal so you'll have a warning light), volts and oil temp (all VDO) mounted in a pod that covers the former seat belt warning light hole atop the dash. The oil temp sender is installed in a drilled/tapped hole in the oil filter housing... there's a dimple where the oil line for the K-fish injector pump goes on the tii that's a perfect location for an oil temp sender. They've all worked well ever since...

...and I agree with Mike -

0-150psi oil pressure gauge because cold start with the M10

motor is 100 to 120psi!

and a volt meter always shows you the state of charge of yer batry

and the condition of your charging system.

thats where they will steer you. How long does cold start last anyway. 20 minutes tops, after that i like a small window. as far as the volt meter. if you have been driving your car alot you can tell when your battery is dying during start up by the feel of the battery and by how hard it is to start. plus if you put the battery in you should have a general idea of how long it will last. currently i have a red top optima and i should get a easy 5 years out of it, well i'm on three and it still feels strong. alt is 3 as well, so i should start to feel a change in a couple of years.

if you cant feel, it get the volt meter, just my opion, motor on.
