320tii air cleaner??

I know there is no such thing as a 320tii but I'm putting a tii motor in my 320 and I need an air cleaner. I can't find anywhere that the stock tii air cleaner will fit. The stock '83 320i one is looking like the best option so far, but I would have to plug the original output (which is down at the bottom) and weld in a new one near the top. I'm not sure how good that would be for flow. Does anybody have any ideas? Maybe some other bmw has one that would work for me. Don't suggest K&N.

Thanks!

The stock Tii air cleaner is the best for the Tii intake and injection. I would suggest cutting the original brackets out of a tii and/or fabricating a bracket to hold the Tii can in place. There is alot more room under the hood of the e21 than the 02 so I'm sure you can come up with somewhere to mount the can. Good luck....

The 320 has a bigger engine bay but that doesn't mean there is more room. The only place the tii air cleaner might fit is right above the exhaust manifold, which is probably not a good place for it. Why does the tii unit have those long tapered pipes on it? If I end up making my own I need to know why its designed that way.
