This is my first post here and it won't be the last. I picked up a 76' 02 a couple months ago, and shortly after, the low beams stopped working. There would be times that after flicking the high/low switch a couple of times they would come on. After that happened a few times the low beams quit working all together. A couple weeks ago I hopped into the car to drive it one night and neither the low or high beams would work.

Today I borrowed a high/low-Blinker switch from a friend and that didn't fix it. Where should I go next with this problem?ny help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

Late model cars had a relay mounted on the driver side inner fender. Check to make sure its working.

Ok, I had the same problem with a 75, just last week. Disconnect battery cables, remove the one phillips head screw at the fuse box, pull up on box % look underneath, wiggle/check/clean connections on,, I want to say #8,, but just clean them all.

That should do it. Let us know.

trace the brown wires that emerge from the headlights themselves. Brown wires are always grounds on 2002s, and the headlights ground somewhere in the engine compartment--just trace the wires. Make sure the grounds are clean and tight. No ground = no lights...

Oh, and on 76s, the low beams are individually fused, and there's a second fuse for the high beams...so if both lows were out, chances are it wasn't the fuse(s)--but check 'em anyway.

happy troubleshooting

Did you try switching the bad headlight for the good one? Might just be a bad headlight or bulb if you have the h4 upgrade.

I tried switching the relays again for kicks and traced the grounds back. One of them had already been cleaned and the other was grounded to some other things that are currently working such as the coil etc... I didn't have much time today to play with it in the day light. I am going to check around some more the next time Im home and I can see whats going on. Thanks for all your info once again, I really appreciate it.
