roundie since it has separate carpet pieces, I know...but by putting it on the inside, you can use something inexpensive and effective, like carpet padding and not have to worry about it coming loose, absorbing water etc. You can usually find scraps of new carpet padding for free or very cheap at a carpet store...

Another trick: put padding (or chunks of flexible foam packing) under your back seat (presuming no rear window leaks or audio equipment back there). You'd be amazed at how much quieter the car will be--that cavity magnifies diff and rear axle road noise.

i was planning on doing the inside. ive purchased a bunch of fatmat for that. but in typical fashion i try to overdo everything. maybe youre right tho. its too easily subjected to water and grease. thanks

I just tossed the removable thick factory foil sheild that covered the floor pan and tunnel under my E36 M3. This would have formed very easily and would act as a great heat shield and sound deadener. They look good and clean very easily.
