Its a 1975 2002 -now former automatic- and I also removed the A/C wiring harness, center console and all under hood components when doing the rebuild and 5spd conversion. Now, when turning the key, there is a single click from the engine bay -I'm assuming the starter-, a delay of 2-3 seconds and a click from one of the two big relays under the dash. Only thing I can come up with is something got removed with the A/C wiring harness that shouldn't have been. Also, the two wires that are usually disconnected or taped off in the steering column -the ones everyone wonders about- are connected to a relay.

I'm not asking for a miracle answer to solve the many potential problems I may have created by taking the A/C out, but where do you gentleman suggest I begin??? Any and all suggestions are welcome, just want to get this thing going and out of my Garage.

What about the switch that wont let it start unless its in Park,,,did you have one before?

Yes, But I would think you would need to close (jumper) that circuit, in order to get power to the starter.

Can you give me a rough idea of what I'm looking for? Small relay/switch similar to the horn and headlights, or something huge and black like the intermitent wiper relay box????

Thanks for all the quick responses--EVERYBODY-Thanks

The battery is fine, removed the entire emissions harness and replaced wire leading to #12 fuse ( not the first time I've done that), Turn the key on and idiot lights come on, terminals are all connect solid and are definitley clean... IF SOMEONE, ANYONE HAS AN IDEA WHERE THIS RELAY IS, TELL ME SO i CAN EXORCISE THE LITTLE DEMON...

Well, I see the wires coming from the tranny, looks like the go under the dash, I can't be sure without unwrapping ,,,,,

what about when you removed the auto tranny, remember any wires,,,,backup light, etc.

You should have 4 wires in the tranny tunnel 2 for the back up lights and 2 that need to be jumped together so that the relay thinks the car is in park. As I recall this switch is on the old auto tranny itself not in the linkage.

Don't worry about the world ending today,

Hell it's already tomorrow in Australia.

You can skip that relay altogether by tracing the black wire from the ignition switch to the starter relay under the dash. Pull the black wire off the relay and plug it into the black wire from the ignition switch and you should be in business
