bars from a 73 Tii and the manual is correct. Replaced both with 22mm bars but I understand this may produce excessive oversteer - haven't pushed it to the limit to test this but the original bars should have produced oversteer also with the rear bar thicker than the front.

and to soften the rear (thus providing a little oversteer) I used urethane bushings up front and rubber ones in the rear. Works, too!

I've read almost everywhere that's the case. I know my '02 plows (understeers) in tight turns with the stock rear bar and 22mm front...

most owners go with a 22mm in front and a 19mm in rear. More imortant, is adjustability. I have a 22 mm rear bar that has 3 adjustment points. You need to soften the car for the wet if you are tracking it. Leave it tight for street, and just experiment to find repsonse. The big bars should keep the car prety flat- but that transmits a lot of force to other components that rely on natural body roll from OEM bars/cars. Consider your car's useage before you buy big bars- they usually lead to change-out /-up of other suspension components.

1971 Sahara, 1972 Inka tii with Alpina A4 Injection. Both cars have too many upgrades for the "signature" square. 1987 M325ic daily driver( all E30M3 except chassis).
