A few month ago I bought a 5 speed gearbox. Problem is that I don't know for sure if it is a sport gearbox or an overdrive. Who can help me?

Specifications:

Getrag 225 1.3

262.0.510.00

014538E0

Thanks,

Tim

The shift pattern will be different. 5-speed overdrive 5th gear is over and up past third gear. Close-ratio box 5th is in the same position as fourth with 1st gear to the left side and down.

245's - if I remember correctly there should be three readily identifiable, visible differences between the the OD and CR boxes (anybody with better or more accurate info, please feel free to jump in here.....):

1) the CR boxes are a little shorter overall (bellhousing flange to output flange).

2) the OD box uses a different slave cylinder / t.o. bearing carrier design (the E21 OD t.o. bearing arm is long, surrounds the input shaft and pivots off a stud on the opposite side of the bellhousing from the slave cylinder, while the CR box uses a similar arm to the regular '02 4 speed design.

3) the OD box's reverse light switch is on the top of the case, the CR box's is on the tail housing
