Is there anybody that sells a 2002 oil pump chain with a master link, so as to not have to take the front of the motor apart to replace the chain?

Thanks

you could even get a master link on. If your chain is too loose, you can drop the oil pan without pulling the engine, and put additional shims in place to tighten things up. To do that you shouldn't have to remove the lower front timing cover.

Thanks but I have the newer pump that requires a longer chain than the old style that was on there. The chain is too short.

AN ISETTA TIMING CHAIN COULD WORK .

SINCE THIS CHAIN IS TOO LONG , YOU WILL NEED TO GRIND THE

END OF A LINK PIN AND DRIVE IT OUT TO SHORTEN THE CHAIN .

BE AWARE ALSO THAT THERE IS AN ORIENTATION TO THE

CLIP ON THE MASTER LINK .

-THE OPEN END NEEDS TO BE POINTING AWAY FROM THE DIRECTION OF ROTATION .

.....ORDER FROM ANY BMW DEALER.

THE CHAIN LENGTH IS THE SAME FOR 'OLD' AND 'NEW PUMPS !

THE CHAIN-PLAY ADJUSTMENT SHIMS ARE AVAILABLE FROM ANY bmw DEALER - ORDER A FEW OF BOTH SIZES AND YOU'LL BE GOOD TO GO.

ALSO ORDER THE PUMP RUBBER O-RINGS - IMPORTANT!

Thanks to all, will follow up on Isetta. There are at least 2 chain lengths. I happen to have the short one because the earlier pump has the sproket closer to the top. Otherwise I would not be needing a longer chain.
