engine and drivetrain If I need to replace my distributor?

I have a '74 with a stock engine except for the weber 32/36. I need to replace the distributor because it has some play and the vacuum retard is also not working very well. Would you replace with the same distributor, mechanical adv., or are there other options?

I ran a mechanical advance distributor while mine was out for a rebuild and frankly could not tell much difference, but I drive like an ol'man

you should get the bosch blue coil

Vac adv Dizzy pirked up the 76 as in 70 02 dizzy

How do you tell the difference between an early or a late vac advance dizzy?
