bought a 75 1602 here in france and would like to upgrade power.

weber plus manifold seems a place to start

pls help with advice and if anyone has equipt

late model 2002 (not sure when they were used on Euro cars, but started in production on USA cars in late '72 so are common here) and a properly jetted Weber downdraft 32/36 two bbl carb. Jet sizes would be a little smaller for a 1.6 liter engine than the 2 liter, but someone on the board will have done this convesion and can advise.

Pretty much a bolt-on operation--suggest using a manual choke Weber vs the autochoke varieties.

...in Europe (or at least England) only automatics had 2-barrel carbs from the factory. The US-spec 4-speed models got the extra barrel to help compensate for our emissions junk.

your car has a single barrel solex carb if you want to switch to a double barrel carb you need to look for an intake manifold and carb from an automatic 74 and later or get one from an e21 316 or 320. only the automatics in europe came with the double barrel solex carb.
