i installed pertronix and it worked fine - then i removed some emissions wiring - i somehow lost spark - i really do not believe i left ignition on - i put in distributor with points and car runs fine - any ideas?

can the ignitor be bench-tested? how is Pertronix on warranty claims?

thanks guys,

bob

my guess is that somehow the pertronix got zapped. if it works with the points then it is probably hooked up right.

you should have the red wire going to switched 12V which should also go to the + side of the coil. this provides the power for the pertronix and the juice for the coil primary. the black wire should go to the - side of the coil. it is grounded by the pertronix to collapse the electromagnetic field in the primary winding which induces high voltage in the coil secondary.

you're right - it's toasted - bench tested it per manufacturer's instructions - thanks
