Replacing strut inserts on lowered car

The springs are uncompressed when the weight is off the wheels so

spring compressers are not needed. Is it easier to replace the inserts

with the strut in the car or should i remove them first. Never done this

before.

I would loosen the sway bar and top of the strut and leave the rest on. You might need to step on the A-arm with your foot to get the strut to clear the fender, but the rest is easy.
