This car is listed on ebay in my area. I know nothing about cars, but have been interested in the '02 since i was a little girl. When this car turned up in my area, i wanted to jump on it. Can any of you read the listing and give me some tips on what i should ask the owner, and how much i should expect to pay? Your help is greatly appreciated!

BMW_2002Ti_1971.jpg

Looks to be a pretty cool ride. The reserve is a hair below $3000 which

is about right for the model. There are some cool things about this

car, and some not so cool things. The burning oil comment, and the

brake issues come to mind. These cars are classic though, and some

things need to be sorted to be a daily driver. This car seems like it

needs a little work, and ebay is kind of a pig in the poke. You might

want to try craigslist, which has some BMWs and maybe some other

sources like roundel magazine. Unless you like mecanics, you should

buy a daily driver type car that someone has either kept tight or

restored to good shape. These type of cars go between 4500-8000,

depending on the time and options that someone spent on it. Looks

like the orange car on ebay is pretty cool though w/ the fender flairs,

the fog lights, rims, and the Porsche Recaro seats. It is kind of a non-

original resto-classic w/ updated parts. Looks like a fun car. Look for

rust if you go and look at it, and I'd look at it first, especially if it's

close. 2002s are fun, especially for ladies, good luck. You could

probably find someone so look over it with you or help you sort it out

if there are 2002 owners in your area.

That is a pretty cool car. Like the others have said if you put a plea out with your location you might be able to get some local 02ers to check it out with you and make sure you're not getting a car with a serious problem. It doesn't look like it has any -- also once you buy it you'll want to know all the 2002 nuts in your area so you can tell each other how cool you and your cars are ;)

and its true
