5 speed CR installation. Few observations.

So far, so good. But I was happily surprised. First, my 5 speed CR came with a 4 bolt flange, not the usual 3 bolt one. Then, the reverse switch is located at the back, same as the 4 speed, so, I won't have the splice the wires, which I should have probably done on a 5 speed OD as the switch is located mid ship. Also, the 5 sped CR has a mounting point for the transversal shifter tower bracket, which is not on a OD tranny. So far, so good. Everything seems easier than anticipated. I will install 2 square tubes from the original tranny bracket to the center vearing mounts, and bolt the tranny support on those transverse tubes. And will probably have to make some room in the tranny tunnel for the clutch slave cylinder though. Now the biggest problem is... to find a shifter knob with the CR pattern. Damn, is life terrible...

It is even stronger than the e21 tranny bushing. I can see that you have move the mounts to the back. I contemplated that way too.

The PO did that and left the OEMs in case going back to 4 speed is needed. I have been going over the car to see what needs to be done to it, that will be added to the long and growing list. Thx
