exhaust/welding question...

I wanted to see if any of you have experienced this and how I would effect a repair. My Ansa exhaust recently broke, right where the pipe enters the flange that bolts to down pipe. DO I need a new exhaust altogether or can this simply be welded back together?

Is aligning the pipe back onto the flange usually a problem??? Anyone?

if it broke- check the reasons why it broke before you fix it. Was it loaded/supported correctly? Was it rusted out? was it damaged or hit by something? If nothing like that exists, then I don't see any reason why you can't weld the flange back on. If its a crack that formed- keep in mind that welding might be just a temporary bandaid- the material is already weak and might crack again. Might look into reinforcing it with a sleeve or something to that extent
