Rear deck speaker repair

A leaking rear window filled my rear base speaker up with water enodh to float a small boat. Dropped them down from the shelf and emptied them out and dried them out. A year latter I found a tear in the dome on one and it was buzzing something awfull. I was going to just throw them out but realized replacements would require a full phased matched set of 6 Boston acoustic speakers about $500. Ouch.

Took a deep breath and found an old silk tie and cut two pieces of black silk material to use for patches (duplicate patches even though only one speaker was torn to ballance the cones for weight and stiffness). Got a cheep brush and some spar varnish and wetted the domes with varnish and layed the patches on. Added a little more varnish onto the silk patch. Let dry for 2 days.

Sounds just fine now I can add the $500 to the money going out tonight to Uncle Sam.
