...my sanity. I am a Design Drawing instructor at an Art & Design College in Michigan.

I bought my Inka tii "Orange Julius" in '01 to tinker with while in college and also to fulfill my promise to actually OWN a 2002 in the YEAR 2002. Drove it to BMW CCA O'Fest in Keystone CO (2500 miles roundtrip) that year. I've done no major mechanical work, but it will get a new clutch and front strut bearings this summer.

This is my fifth 2002 and my first tii. I bought my first one in 1972, a '69 (#1666747)and even bought one new in 1975 (#4225509).

Then, in 2003, I bought an E30 to replace my Volvo wagon. Last summer, I replaced the steering rack and driveshaft centerbearing. Both were very difficult.

Keep on wrenching...

NO free dinner for you!

No garage + no tools = very little

workie by me on my cars.

Good thing I have a job to pay

for my needed wrenching. Guess I

could use my income to start a meth habit,

but paying for a mechanic is perhaps, better.

No comment from the Canucks regarding if I really

have a mechanic or not.

and buy tools?

Thats very cool, very impressive. I'm considering getting another 02 but selling the honda. You posted that 2 older cars arent reliable together. Where I work, if I'm late, I'm fired.

At this point, when I look at the engine, I see the pods from Aliens. j/k

...I'll never forget my first drive! I've never been the same...LOL!

Chamonix w/blue. No sunroof. I found it on a lot in Plainwell, Michigan in 1972. It needed a windshield, some exhaust work and the second gear synchro was out of it, but I HAD to HAVE it. Paid $1500. It was a rocket.

I sure do miss that car...

I HAD to work on cars so that my dad would talk to me.

I fixed bicycles, my brothers go-karts and minibikes. My own cars were always in need of things, too. I had two Fiats -- a 500 and 600, then an Austin America. I gave up on the unususal and had a series of VWs: Bug, K/G and transporters, and finally fell in love with the BMW 2002. I joined BMW CCA in 1973 and am member #1974.

Because these cars were always in need of something, (they were used), I wandered into fixing them as best I could. I ran speed events, ice races and rallies and made a lot of friends with tools and garages, so there was always help. Later, I was restoring cars, (MGs, Volvos) but that was not very satisfying.

At age 50 I went to college and now teach Design Drawing at the same school from which I was graduated.

If you've little or no mechanical expertise, keep the Honda and learn about the 2002. Be patient. Sell your first 2002 when you get your next 2002.

I waited nearly thirty years to get an Inka tii with a sunroof. Add four more years for the Minilites.

Cheers!

Delia

I will take your advice, although I'm not sure how I would give up my first 02. I too want an Inka or Malaga. I'm patiently waiting for Dubois to get tired of manual transmissions ;-)

I'll keep the Hondaand my 02, but perhaps I could learn on a rust free..mechanically maladjusted car? My 02 runs very well. but I have tons of questions

thanks
