Thinking of switiching to electronic ignition - I know very little (only what I have been able to find in the archives) and am wondering which is prefered: Petronix or Crane XR700? Are there advantages/disadvantages to either? Will this pep up a pretty tired motor or add reliablilty?

Thanks in advance

Keep reading the archives until you can make your mind. It's all been said already. They are both good so it's just a decision which way to go.

and for a no totally juiced motor (lower comp) they recommended the XR-3000 and the PS-60 coil. I have installed that set-up on the 72 but it won't be on the road until 5/1 so cannot comment. I have the XR-700 on the turbo and have had no issues with it but have only a couple thou on it. I have no experience with the Pertronix

It's a simple install, as long as you can follow instructions. 10 minutes tops.

Yes, it makes a difference, car fires every time.

I've driven 10s of thousands of miles on my Pertronix with no problems...
