the bolts for US cars are longer but too long. My current bolts are to short. Where to get the right size bolts? Nay other ideas. Adjustable mounts are on the way so this will be a temporary solution. I may just use regular old bolts if i can get to them. 2.5" springs so maybe possible.

I guess if you could get some bad US market strut bushings, you could press out the studs and transfer them to the ones you have. Which strut bar do you have?

Its hard top come by that kind of stuff here in japan. I bought the ireland bar- tii. Seems like it'll do the job well. I need it as the radiator supports are cracking up where they meet the inner fenders. The stainless is stiff stuff.

I had this exact situation; I picked up a handful of the longer studs (don't have the part number, sorry) from a local independent BMW shop, swapped them out in about an hour and was on my way. The only downside was that the replacement studs were _too_ long, from a cosmetic perspective. If you go this route, I suggest you make this determination before you install them, and cut them down. After I installed the long studs, I was reluctant to remove them again, so I used a Dremel to cut them down. Worked OK, but the tops of the studs are a bit rough looking. All cosmetics, but the small stuff matters when you get to the end of the project.

33 52 1 103 812 Knurled Stud, List $1.02 each BMW

They are cheap & available new, or consider that those owners who have installed the fixed camber plates had to remove the same knurled stud from the OE part. I bet many folks have done new strut bearings at the same time as the fixed plates, and would have knocked out new studs during the install. My point is that there is a high likelihood of someone here having new & unused studs leftover.
