sometimes symptoms can take a few days to show up - neck/back pain etc. personal experience. assuming the 4x4 driver is insured, the insurance co is more than willing (usually) to pay for physical therapy in the hopes your pains go away.

I also suggest you keep the aches and pain issue alive until you settle with the insurance company

Yes. Get to the doctor. Just to get checked out and get it documented. All you have to do is say you were in a motor vehicle accident and they will start up all the forms and bill out to the other insurance. There should be no out of pocket expenses for you. There is always that question of "Why didn't you go to the doctor?" when you get injured, and I know that you probably feel OK, but having that documentation started now may make it easier to get further treatment later should you need it.

My wife and son were not really injured when our car was hit and totalled, but she is a legal secretary and her right hand was hurting from the airbag deployment, so she did go to some PT and chiropractic appointments.

The one thing I was told by my agent is that the Property Damage and the Personal Injury are handled as two separate claims. You and your passengers may be entitled to at least one doctors visit and some compensation for pain and suffering. For us, the P&S money helped offset what we really ended up loosing on the replacement car.

Good luck.

to get EVERYTHING in writing. I can't stress this enough, they will lie to you so make sure they can't go back on their word.

I'm sorry for your loss but on the bright side the car did its job, protecting you. I'm glad you are OK and get checked out by a doctor.

I was rear ended in early December. after trying to come to terms with the insurance, I ended going to an attorney and doctor. My car sat in torrential rains for weeks awaiting their insurance adjuster. It took them 2 months just to get to my car. Nothing has been fixed to this day and I'm awaiting settlement so that I may repair my car properly. Your's sounds worse.

Good Luck,

Slavs

put aside going to the doctor. On my first one (with my first '02) I felt fine. My then GF, now the missus, went immediately and she had to use a neck brace. I felt fine (adrenaline, I guess) until two days after. Went to the doctor then, but compulsory insurance here only covers if you report injuries within 24 hrs of the accident. Still feel back pains once in a while as a consequence of that accident.

The second one was in my current car. As I've said before, got rear ended the first day driving it after a one-year restoration. No physical injuries, but the emotional scars are still there.. ;-P

Good Luck, Friend!

Glad you're ok, too. Sounds like it was a hard hit.

Anyway, I'm not incinuating that you sue the insurance company. I'm sick of that segment of our society making life miserable for the rest of us who don't file suit when the wind changes direction. Just as an interesting "study," let us know how many "Ambulance Chaser" letters you get. It'll bet you get some over the next couple of days.

The sad fact is, however, that need representation of your own to make sure you don't get screwed. If you can't afford it, just BE DAMNED CAREFUL!!!!

Best of luck.
