Can this be done?? Temp disabling one of the brakes?

I have a really leaky rear wheel cylinder. To the point where my whole brake reservoir drains out within a couple of hours. I have ordered new wheel cylinders but won't get them for a few days. The problem is that I still need to use the car. Can I disconnect the brake line on that one brake and plug the port to disable it and prevent it from leaking? I know this is a safety issue as well so really curious what the group thinks.

suggest you park the car until fixed.

Ever had your brakes go out while driving? I have 3 times...all years ago, and all on older cars. I was lucky each time to be able to coast to a stop, but man does your heart leap into your throat.

You could just pinch off the hose, but I wouldn't EVER drive with less than 100% confidence in the brakes, this and bad tires cost my the first 2002 that I owned. Safety first.

Finally, somebody near you probably has a used one you can borrow, or you can get one from a junkyard until your new shiny ones arrive.

To block off a rear brake would make the car snap pull (other side still working). Also remember the hydrolic pressure for that cyl has to go someplace. If you block off both then the pressure from the master has to go someplace. Also not good. Basicly with next day shipping take a cab or rent a car for a day. its way cheaper and easier time and life insurance wise.
