Weber 38 DGES afjustment question

I've been trying to tune my 38 today, and was wooling through all the snippets of tech info that I've saved over the years. I came across this one and wanted to see if anyone could verify its validity. Does the 38 really have an adjustment for this punp? I don't see anything on the outsde of the carb, do I have to remove the top cover to get to it?

"And don't forget that the 38 has an adjustment for the accel. pump- the little screw above it bleeds off fuel at a set rate. My stumble problems went way down when I adjusted this in about 3/4 turn... "

Thanks

... a "pump discharge blanking needle". Being the that it is a "needle" it must be for adjusting and the exploded view shows it "above" the pump. My guess is that it is only accessible after removing the cover though.

The assembly instructions say to "fit and tighten" it. The cross section shows fuel coming from the bowl through a small jet, and past the "needle" into the pump cavity, but it also shows another passage with a ball check valve also. The ball will of course not allow fuel back into the bowl while the pump is pumping, but there's nothing to keep it from leaking past the needle back into the bowl.

Interesting. There also doesn't appear to be much room to adjust this needle off a fully seated position before it sticks up above the top surface and interferes with the gasket.

If I were you I'd shoot an email over to Top End or Redline Weber and ask some of those guys. And please don't forget to let us know what they say. I have a 38 DGAS and although it's working great, it's a good thing to know.

You do have to remove the carb top to see the "blanking needle".Despite the taper,I don`t think this is intended as an adjustment. However if it was loose, I can see how tightening it might make a difference.

Pretty sure there are different pump jets available though.
