Minor '72tii warm starting problem...

After my car is fully warmed up, if I go back to start it within about 30 minutes it runs really rough (like it's too rich) for about 7 seconds and then smooths right out to normal.

The car runs fantastic, idles at 950 rpm, pulls hard to redline and has no driveability issues other than this hot start thing. All the throttle linkage has been adjusted to spec, warmup regulator works correctly, timing set to spec, etc.

I've tried disconnecting the cold start injector to see if it's leaking, but the problem remains. Any ideas out there?

any black smoke out of the rear tail pipe?

perhaps your pump is adjusted too rich. no easy way to see that without a tester though.

does sound like a possible cold start injector issue. but, I would still verify your pump is adjusted well and that the warm up regulator is also properly set.

ruling out the injection system, timing and electrical, my wild ass guess is that it may have to do with the condition of the still warm combustion chamber after re-start. I would try some type of carbon remover additive, octane booster, etc. It sounds to me that this problem eventually will cure itself in a misterious way and go away by itself, just ignore it for a while...

I've already tried a couple of bottles of Techron to make sure everything is clean with no difference.

I'm kind of leaning toward a possible weak injector that won't maintain pressure until the engine is running. I've got some extra injectors I'm going to have tested and will probably just replace all four when I replace the 33 year old plastic injector lines.

sounds like you need to verify 100% for sure that your pump isn't running too rich. It is odd it only does it on a warm start though...
