Q....Picking brain

Question for you guys.....have and 02 that im trying to balance out. The driver side front and rear are heavier than the passanger side. I had a TEP rear bar for the battery and moved it from the center to the passenger side to get weight there. Now the front. I was thinking of removing the bulky brake booster. One...for getting more room in the engine compartment and two to get rid of weight. Ive seen this done, mostly on track cars. What option is there. Is it possible using the current peddle assembly. I have an upgraded brake kit for the front....Volvo front calipers......and rear disc brakes from Ireland. What to do or am I going to be waisting my time with it. Just a thought. Thanks 02'ers. Late.

The master Cylinder is way to small. It takes alot of pedal Pressure to stop an 02 without the booseter. I drove my 2002 for a few days with a bad check valve, it was a PITA!!!

IMHO its not worth the weight reduction.

Also, because they have different lever ratios it will be easier than a boosterless 2002 system. Also, the ratio of master surface vs caliper piston surface should around 1:50

Nothing is simple.

Remove the booster and install a lever, and it's not bad at all apparently.

There was a guy on ebay selling his homemade part a while ago.

Also there are plenty of other cars out there, similar in weight to the O2 and they don't have power breaks

factory linkage (I seem to recall a flanged pipe and longer pushrod)to make up the booster's thickness on cars without power brakes.

Someone on the board should have an early 1600 with this setup...
