Oh man .. I think I finally got this car tuned the way it was meant to be tuned. The Saga: It always ran rich and eventually I took it to ol Verner Reinhard -- a crusty old German who works on BMWs and he adjusted valves and gave it the once over (did a brake job and steering box too). I head down to pick up the car and Reinhard has a hang dowg look -- he took it for a test drive and blew up my exhaust. Apparently the rich issue built up gas in the exhaust with him starting it and running low rpm in the garage. My resonator was split in 2!!

So he thought it was the cold start injector, so he wired my exhaust and pulled the plug to the injector and sent me home.

After reading the boards and studying the manuals I finally figured out the cold start injector was fine, it was the warm up regulator that was faulty. So I eventually found one and swapped it out -- and re tuned. Then eventually I got a new set of Ireland headers and exhaust and put that in. The car was still a bit rough, but ran waaay better.

I've been busy and I knew the timing wasn't quite right still -- so yesterday I took some time with a mechanic buddy and we screwed around with the timing. HOLY CRAP -- just 2-3 degrees change has got this car ripping !!!! I had always enjoyed the power before, but man .. the difference is pretty amazing.

I think its FINALLY right -- and man you can tell.

I'm so happy -- have to make a 2 hour drive this afternoon and totally looking forward to it.
