I'm a little confused here. I put 2 different colours of Recaro seat kits on Ebay last week, and one had 11 people watch it, while the other ended up with 17 people watching! Each had well over 500 views, but not 1 single bid on either kit. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

The other strange thing is, after putting a black and grey 2 tone kit up a couple weeks ago, I got LOTS of requests from people for an all black one. Typical email was "put a black one up, and I will buy it". Then I put a black one up, and not a single bid. When I posted the black one, I got a request for a tan one. I put it up, and no bids.

It all just seems a little weird to me. Am I the only one?

Sometimes I do it to remind me of something....

Many times I 'save' the auction results to keep an archive of values. I do that for a couple of reasons.

1- On an item I might want to bid on later, that way I know what the history is/has been (way past the search ability in e-bay)

2- For 'historical' purposes on some types of things I have and may want to sell later... High end stereo equipment, tools.... unique things that I have not seen before...

Another reason is out of curosity. If I come across a unique item, sometimes I want to see what it sells for.

I can't speak to your situation but there are all sorts of reasons I do so....

Sometimes there is no rational reason.

I do sometimes watch just to get an idea of pricing, and maybe is if a can steal something if it has low bids.

I did not watch you actions nor did I encourage you to make more kits.

My guess is that timing is everything. Maybe those guy who did express interest where low on cash, or not the right time to start on seats, other maybe had to buy some go fast part and seats are on the end of the list.

I think your kits are a great idea, that do offer a quaility product and does cut down some cost freight, some labor etc.. I bet that you will have success with them, maybe offer them on your web page and a post here and there.

Best of luck with your efforts and whats up with that right hand drive 3?

over 350 people were watching, but the bid never got above $7500. I watch plenty of things I'm not bidding, but not your upholstry kits.

I don't always bid on them, but I won't tend to watch something for curiosity.

It's not a big deal that no one bid on them, but I just thought it was strange. Every other time I've had someone watch my auctions, they always sell, including my last upholstery kit. Such is life I guess.

It is sitting in my shop, awaiting a trip to the body shop. I've got most of the glass and interior out of it, most of the engine bay, and a good amount of the exterior trim stuff. I'm waiting for my body guy to finish a client's 73 2002, and then mine goes in. I was hoping to have it in already, but things keep being pushed back.

When it eventually does make it in, it's having a complete, and total colour change, with no hint of Safaribeige being left on the car. Going with a completely hand blocked body, all rust removed(not much), and then wet sanded out between coats. I told him I want this thing nicer than new! That's what we're shooting for. Colour is going to be Zinnoberrot, which is not completely accurate for an E21, but I don't care. This thing is going to be very nice!

...I keep the mantra going: I sold my last 2002, I sold my last 2002... but I still watch a few that come up to see where they end up.

I am looking for a truck and I will watch and see market pricing and see if the same people are bidding over-n-over without winning.

Sometimes I will watch after I exchange with someone and decide I just don't trust the seller... but I am still curious. For example, I love the 1972 Ford Ranchero and Ford Torino. I am watching a 72 Ranchero in Lakeside CA, but the seller has been difficult to communicate with. Pictures are limited, information is okay but not thorough, and I get a little nervous when people say: "Can I buy it before the auction ends?" So, I watch and if the bidding exceeds my pain threshold... I watch through the end.

Sometimes I will watch and see if the bidder decides to relist at a lower price too.

I think the kits are awesome. I would love to be able to afford the kits and fix up my recaros but the whole college deal puts a damper on my budget. As the others said timing is everything and if you could come up with an online store I think that would be key. All your work is amazing keep it up.

to get an idea of what these items are selling for or what the market is for a certain thing. I may not be ready to buy right now... but at least then I can determine if ebay is a viable source for what I want.

If I plan on bidding, I usally bid the first day I see the item so it's in the auctions I'm bidding on. If it's in the watched items.... I generally only watch although sometimes in the last 30 secs if the price is low enough then I'll bid.

I get emails or calls from supposed 2002 buyers that say they love a specific car I have for sale and would be " all over it" if it was another color. I tell them I happen to have one that particularcolor and then it's "Uh, AH, I'll get back to you. They never do. Window shopping and dreaming at the same time.
