Quarter light adjustment

Recommended Posts

My quarter light does not sit far enough inwards and appears to be causing quite a lot of wind noise. The forward frame also seems to be a little loose with just a touch of movement when I put pressure on it. The other side is much more tucked in behind the A pillar and I get no wind noise there.

Is there any adjustment inside the door?

the quarter light might need a bit of fine-tuning to get it properly aligned. I’ve had similar issues with mine and found that adjusting the hinge screws or checking the seals can help improve the fit. Sometimes just a slight movement of the hinge can make a big difference. Have you tried loosening the screws slightly and seeing if you can adjust the angle or alignment?

This is what I’m asking. Is there adjustment and if so where is it?

Its not the window itself that needs adjustment but the frame it is in, to tuck further behind the A pillar.

The door panel will need to be removed. There are 10mm bolts for adjustment of the vent frame. Loosen and adjust the top inward to your liking and check operation.

There's a good article on door glass installation and adjustment here:

The article @OldRoller quotes above is comprehensive. His description will get your quarter window near perfect - the whole article allowed me to get all door glass and operational components in and spot on.

Whilst in there think about lubing your door locks as they are easy to remove, clean and lubricate. That’s also your drivers side door in U.S. so gets lots of use.

If you’ve got any door rattles make sure you aren’t missing the little plastic bushes on the ends of the pull rods. They are cheap to replace.

Good luck with it.

The vent window frame is adjustable in three planes:  fore and aft, up and down, and in and out.  Once you get it adjusted properly so that it doesn't leak water or air around its periphery, you'll most likely need to adjust the rear roll-up glass guide track so that it's parallel with the track on the vent window frame, so that the glass will roll up and down easily and fit properly against the B pillar.  I did a column on adjusting door glass; PM me if it turns out you need a copy.
