When painting, Should I leave doors, trunk, ect off?

I want to get all the extra sheet metal on my car so it takes up less space in my garage. Does it make it considerably harder to paint with at least the doors on?

If you're doing the 'best job you can', you will take absolutely everything off of the chassis, including doors, door hardware, hinge stuff, weatherstrip, glass, chrome, emblems, etc. If you don't have to go this far, and the paint inside the door jambs, the A-pillar, under the forward edge of the trunk, the nose behind the grill, etc., is all fine, then you could leave the doors and everything else on.

Then again, don't listen to me. My car has been a completely stripped chassis, sitting in a garage or storage unit, for about a year now. Just paint the damn thing and drive it. Spring is just about here.

The interior is gutted, all glass out. I guess I'll just "test fit" the doors until painting time comes. Do you have to have glass for inspection? :)

Take the doors the trim everything off it may add a day or two to the project but if you don't you will notice that you didn'e everytime you open the door your eye will go to that little line in the door jamb where you can tell you don't take the extra time..and you will kick yourself in the ass
