seeking advice: what to do about loose floor plugs?

Hi All, There's no rust yet, but the front floor plugs are quite loose and I'd like to tighten them up. Should I remove them and cinch down the retaining tabs? This doesn't look like a part that's supposed to be removed. Thanks, CT

and welded them solid with steel. if you dont want to do that id snug them up best you can and prime, paint or whatever and then seam seal them up with some 3m brushable seam sealer

make sure they'll go in snug without rattling. Once installed, seal with seal sealer like the factory did (or was supposed to!)
